NewsCommunity Companion ProgramApril 28, 2010Wendell Foster's Campus strives to create a nurturing home environment for all of the children and adults who live here. We work hard to ensure that the whole person is served- not just physically- but spiritually, emotionally, and socially. One of the best ways to improve the lives of others is simply to be their friend. That's why we have created the Community Companion Volunteer Program. This program offers persons who live in the community the opportunity to volunteer, give back, and greatly improve the life of a person with disabilities by being a friend. Community Companions alleviate lonliness and isolation, improve quality of life, and meet a great need in our community. So what do Community Companions do? They visit, read books, take walks, watch movies, play computer or board games, visit the park, chat, and more. They do all the regular things that friends do. . . and it makes all the difference in the world. Contact us at connect@wfcampus.org to get involved! |
