NewsEssay and Poster Contest InformationMarch 05, 2010K-12 Students from public, private, and home schools are invited to enter the 2010 No R-Word Essay and Poster Contest. Students K-5 are invited to create posters; Students 6-12 can enter the Essay Contest. All submissions are due by April 16 and must be the student's original work. Students are encouraged to create posters or essays around these suggested themes in direct relation of ending the insulting use of the "r-word": Acceptance, It's What We Do Acceptance as a Path to Unity Respect is the New R-Word Including All Our Friends Essays should be 250-500 words (1-2 pages). Posters should be created in crayon, colored pencil, watercolor, or marker. Poster Contest PRIZES include an official WFC No R-Word T-Shirt, an invitation to tell the community about your poster the WFC Radio-a-Thon on 94.7 WBIO on May 15, and a $50 gift card. Your poster will be framed and remain on display at Wendell Foster's Campus for 1 year. Essay Contest PRIZES include an official WFC No R-Word T-shirt, an invitation to read your essay LIVE on air at the WFC Radio-a-Thon, a $100 gift card, and publication on this website and in the Campus newsletter!
